A Generation that knew not God – How?

The mighty power of God parted the red sea 🌊 in twain. They saw the awesome miracle at the parting of the Jordan when the priests’ feet touched the water – when they forget all these great and mighty works. What happened, what did they miss? Was it true that there was no teacher?

Is it that the teachers never taught the young people? How is it that there arose a generation that knew not God, with all the teachings from Moses, and Joshua and also those elders that outlived Joshua?
God who at sundry times and in diverse manners spoke in times past unto the fathers by the prophets (Hebrews 1:1) and yet they did not take heed to those words. They never put them in their heart even when after God had warned them by Moses, that they would forsake God. Even when Moses was worried of them Deuteronomy 31:29th still could not take to heart.

Let not this generation think that because “God hath in these last days spoken to us” Hebrews 1:1-2) they will be any different. Well Jesus was a greater man than Moses but the latter was a type of the former. Jesus was who Moses ‘typed’ in the wilderness.

We are under grace, we are not under the law any more. The law was done away with at Calvary. Yet they still know that once a person has been caught with something that’s not originally theirs. They say he stole and they hurriedly want to lynch him, why because they still believe that thou shalt not steal. That is the eighth commandment which was given to the Israelites by Moses in the holy mount – it’s God’s law – moral law.

They say the law was done away with, do you commit adultery and go scot free? If you are caught they will kill you or charge you. That moral law of God’s commandments is still in effect.

In Uganda an ungodly man has been implementing one of God’s laws (whether knowingly or unknowingly, (Deuteronomy 23:24 When thou comest into thy neighbour’s vineyard, then thou mayest eat grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not put any in thy vessel.) he owns sugar cane plantations at/in Kakira, anybody who is hungry can branch into the garden of sugar cane Plantation, eat all he can but should never carry out a piece. And God has blessed him.

But you find the Christian of today he thinks God’s law has been done away with – they can dress how they want to they can act how they want to and with a smart Aleck attitude just wimp away saying God sees my heart he is not so much as bothered with my appearance as He does with my heart. Yet Paul in his first letter to Timothy warned the women that they be adorned modestly (1 Timothy 2:9-10)

There is simply no way of telling anyone that the bird 🐦 in your hand is actually alive till they can see it moving. A Christian is usually seen by their actions and not necessarily by what they say. Ever wondered why people are always bothered by people who speak well of themselves (they say that don’t blow your own trumpet)? Did you ever imagine that we are not meant to call ourselves Christians, it is others who are meant to call us Christians.

Acts 11:26b and the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Why? Because they saw the lifestyle of these people for a whole year they lived like Christ lived acted like Christ did and they just concluded that these are Christians. And here you come wanting to tell us the appearance doesn’t matter the law was abolished? (I am beginning to doubt the Bible you read)

God’s moral law still exists. It is only the ceremonial law that was done away with. That’s why we do not sacrifice sheep to attorn for our sins neither do we keep the Passover or the feast of weeks.
These generation that came up that knew not  the Lord was a result of apostasy, after the death of the tough leaders that stood for God there crept in unawares men that were ungodly that didn’t care whether or not God was in heaven they were determined to go their way. That’s why it is a lot easier for men to live the way they want never following the oracles of God but yet expect people to call them saved, rather Christians.
But like the scripture says there is always a remnant according to the election of grace. If you are loved of God, you will find your way out of the sinking sand and onto solid ground – The body of Christ on the face of the earth.

So what went wrong with these people that they never knew God (Joshua 2:10). Joshua had done his best to carry on the message he had received from his predecessor. The elders also that outlived Joshua had imputed somewhat of instructions to the people concerning the law of God. But why is it that there were such a people that were accustomed to doing evil (Jeremiah 13:23) these people were just hardened at heart, they were set continually to do evil. Knowing that there was no sentence from the Lord, even upon their wicked ways. Right was Solomon to say that ‘… hearts of men a fully set in them to do evil.’ Ecclesiastes 8:11.

Could it not be because they had lived in so much prosperity that when God would say the day you disobey me I will punish you and because it seemed slow in coming men was hardened ever more to continue in sin. Not really understanding what God meant by judging or giving them over to their enemies to reproach them. Their heart had forgotten that their God had slain some many in the wilderness, that their God had killed the whole household of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram!!

They did not know God – how? Was not these an art of rebellion against God? Because if truly they just did not know God, probably that would have deserved a fairer dealing with them from God… but the following scriptures do not seem to point to that direction, it simply shows that God was dealing with a rebellious attitude.

In our time today, we have a bunch of Christians so called full in church houses singing a way every service – they pray away their troubles – they look worse than the 19th century whore. But all they can say is God looks at my heart not my appearance. He knows that I love Him so much. Yet your appearance is as of an Harlot or of a gangster. God knows your heart, really?

In Genesis 38:12-16 Judah went in unto his own daughter in-law – Judah would not have naturally done such a thing but because (Genesis 38:15 – when Judah saw her, he thought her to be an Harlot, because she had covered her face.) so dress real speaks a lot about you and your conduct and intentions too. If Tamar had not disguised herself, Judah wouldn’t have done such a thing. In these verses you can notice, the widow had her own apparel, just as a Harlot, too.

So you want go on with your God-knows-my-heart attitude thing? Well, you go on but the facts are really clear, if your lifestyle does not portray what you mouth is speaking, I think it’s time you bought a new Bible.

What happened to the people in Joshua’s day’s may well be part of us (I mean this generation) all you have to do is just watch.
But our God is a God of remnants, as for me and my house Joshua said in chapter 24 and verse 15, we will serve the Lord.

Sin –

Sin is the fallen nature. We are sinners by nature because of the first birth.

There’s a fable of man; Social workers proclaim that man was born upright and good but it’s the environment that is spoiling man – so governments spend a lot of money to try to better environment to change man, yet they still get no Victory… The problem is inborn.
Some blame others – “you are thee source of my troubles”, but

You are the source of your troubles, your troubles come from within (you)

Your troubles stem from within you and not from what is going on around you. – accept this and you will grow spiritually.

* If your heart was right, you would never blame anybody for your troubles.*

* The problem is from within and not without.

* See, as for Christ it didn’t matter what was done to Him, he always reacted right. Why? – because he had no problem with the inside. What was done to him did not receive any corresponding response. He always had a right reaction because there was no evil in His heart.

* So this thing with the world that environment is bad and man is good is false.

The world has taxed man (to death) almost so as to change the environment. Man has tried to change his environment through improving Infrastructure, Education, recreational facilities. And yet society is worse off than it has ever been.

To where public housing and education have not changed man. This shows us that it’s not the environment, it is what man was born with.

YOU CAN GIVE MAN THE MOST IDEAL CONDITIONS YET MAN WILL GO WRONG ALL THE TIME. It was in paradise that man fell.

If man (Adam) in his original righteous state could fall into sin, how much easier is it for man (in our day – in his fallen condition) to fall into sin.

Sinful disobedience is the source of this distinctive character. No external factor is directly responsible than for the fact that it was internally.

* The essential primary problem is disobedience. This is the thing that has led to all our troubles – a kin study on your life’s condition will always trace back to some disobedience somewhere.

* Sin is not something merely negative, it’s not the absence of quality.

* We limit sin to merely something negative e.g Stealing, fighting, killing, but sin is active it is deliberate.

* sin is disobedience and departure from obedience. It is querying the right of God to command man. Sin is a state of rebellion.

Ephesians 2:3 – We were by nature the children of wrath – with the desires of the flesh/body and that of the mind. Flesh here means mankind (Genesis 6:13, Ezekiel 37:8, Galatians 5:17)
IN EPHESIANS 2:3 cf Colossians 3:5 here, Paul talks about the sensous part of the flesh.

The word Lust here essentially is that it is a perversion of that which is normal that that was created right. It is a strong urgent craving for that that is beyond the normal and it moves over to an area that is prohibited by God.

EVERY LUST IS A NORMAL RIGHT DESIRE GONE OVERBOARD.

Paul therefore was showing us here that Lust is manifested in the desire of the body and that of the mind.

A desire is a command that is urging us to action.
The commands that urges us to action in any animal nature are:-

– Hunger

– Thirst

– Sleep

– Sex

– Pleasure

– Happiness

– Contentment

– Attract and be attractive. Etc

These are normal drives/desires that God placed in our body. All these desires are in all of creation

And, there is nothing inherently wrong with these desires. They were given to man by God. He (God) Himself said they were good and very good. In other words all types of desires of the flesh when under control are very good. Sin is when these desires (that were) originally right and good suddenly take control over a person.

Thus, when these desires start to control you, then you begin to suffer. Any of them beyond control can ruin man.

Philippians 3:19 whose God is their belly.

There is nothing wrong with hunger, but if all you are  thinking is beyond the good (hunger) then it becomes lust.

Ephesians 5:18 – thirst is good but if it leads you, then it becomes lust. Whether sleep as long as it’s under control, otherwise it becomes lust – Proverbs 6:10.

Sexual Sin.

Much of today’s pre marital affairs at one time were a result if one of the following. Of course there are exceptions like high immoral conduct, exposure to explicit content. However myths like…

…. If you do not have sex, your hymen will become hard.

….. If you don’t have sex, your private place will grow a bone.

…. That your hinds (buttocks) and burst (breasts) will be underdeveloped.

…. That you will not be a good wife. Really? Do we need all of these to be better at marriage? It’s not football, that you have to practice to be perfect. Has anyone ever established a marriage training college

Yes, Midwifery schools exist, ever Minor seminaries for the Catholic clergy exist. But school of marriage, these are all myths that people use on others to get the young into early sexual acts, thus leads them to sexual Sin and thus disobey God’s commands.

I want to (in this post) discuss the dangers/consequences of sexual Sin, and how it will lead to death.

Taking account of the Bible story of the life of Amnon, David’s son and Absalom’s half brother. (you must be familiar with these names already). His end was drawn so quickly the day he dragged Tamar, his half sister (Absalom’s sister) to bed – he committed incest. All sex done at the wrong time will end up with hurt and hate (2 Samuel 13:15 15  Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.) – He hated immediately the very person he had ‘loved’ and was sore verse 1 – 2.

After Amnon slept with TAMAR, Absalom was very wroth but never told or even showed it to him for the next two years. You may sleep with that girl/boy and still feel like you still love her/him can even sleep again, and again… but then, gossip can set in, that boy will tell his friend that he used you, little girl they will be like, that girl also just because I sympathized and slept with her, now she is allover me – like am the only boy. And he could be speaking like that in front of someone who had intentions of marrying you, but that causes him to pull away quietly, [there is a biblical defense to this, in Matthew 1:20 while Joseph was espoused to Mary, before he even ever knew her, she was found to be with child. Joseph being a just man, with right intentions to marry her, decided he would pull out secretly, if it had not been that God sent His angel, Mary would not have got married and she would have been stoned to death, for unfaithfulness.] It is also apparent that apart from the other boy who had good intentions – to marry you, this very boy before he took you to bed could have promised to marry you, but because what he had always wanted from you, he got, why would he take you home, anymore, because what he wants he got – your attractiveness – before his eyes (yes you may never lose your natural beauty, but because he has seen you naked on his bed, his heart starts to loathe you). And he will rather have someone he has not seen – yet. And because he has access to what a man desires, sometimes a call away, you then become a quench mate, rather than a helpmeet – whenever he is burning you are available to cool him.

Sadly, these things work differently, you will now even develop more love for the man (because you gave him your treasure Matthew 6:21 ) – and because the man doesn’t feel the same way, he is rather strange, even the behavior toward you changes. Tamar said this thing in chasing me away is worse than the first (ii Samuel 13:16). And as daily you try to get the man’s attention, he keeps ignoring you – frustration Sets in, anguish, guilt, wishes and you may eve speak to your friends “I wish I had not given in” but you did. You start crying – someone may comfort you, but the wound inflicted on you is unbearable, you wish you had not met him – but you already did and messed up, too.
In most cases, after sex, relationships are broken. And because they are broken, gossip is already on going, the gainsayers are already busy with the ears that want every ‘I’ dotted and every ‘t’ crossed just for their itchy ears’ sake. The girl is frustrated, she loses appetite and weight and eventually hates God. (There are exceptions in every case, though. – the experts may not even feel bad – their heart and feelings have been crashed several times, so they may just live bodily. Am addressing saints of God who were deceived of Satan). Because her God-sent-husband-to-be, that she had opened up to has turned out to be a devil. And God will be accountable to her, God why did you permit this, if you are God really why didn’t you warn me earlier and yet all these questions seem to fall on deaf ears, so she decides to take to herself, leaves God behind and goes for revenge, either using African chemistry, or uses weapons to take the boy’s life. The papers have told us that a girl stubs lover over failed love, and they use law against her sentencing her to the same fate. – she dies.
In the church, this same vice has also crept in. Just as theft or gossiping is sin, sex outside marriage is some kind of sin too. A sister after opening up to a brother with a hope that it would energize him to speed up the preparations for their marriage ends up disappointed and frustrated because he cuts communication especially now with this technology, he blocks her number that she can not call him at all.

They then become restless and weary, and the people will speak and wonder what happened to the wedding and because all the reasons will become eminent, the church becomes a small place for her – she may move to another Assembly may even hook up a new marriage partner, but because words have a way of moving around, that on top of her official names she has a tittle, ‘second hand’ – there is one thing that godly young men do not want to know – the fact that the girl he has hopes in had an affair that failed. He thinks even with him it can still fail. She can be branded all sorts of names, 2nd hand, 2nd class…. And because she also is human who gets frustrated these words in sinking deep to her heart she will be overwhelmed and because at this point she has backslidden, left church, she does not have enough word of God to comfort, convict her to repent and turn to God, she can commit suicide and die. The boy is not immune either, because the feeling that he was primarily responsible for her leaving the church and later dying. Can be so heavy.
So young man, why not avoid all of that but, before it happens. Here is the plan, believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved. They that call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered.

It’s hard to live a single faithful life but it is possible – with God. Get saved the right way.

The solution is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. With evidence of speaking in other tongues. (Acts 2:4)
While confessing Christ in itself can do very little to help one overcome sexual Sin, or any other sin, the baptism of the Holy Spirit however can get the job done – with condition sanctification.

Don’t permit Satan to use and dump you leaving you loaded with guilt and  frustration. You are beyond a sugarcane that is only useful when it still got water, after its chewed, the rest is dumped.

As children of God it is good to live a life that conforms to the word of God. Be ye holy for I am holy Leviticus 11:45.
God bless you and help you keep your bodies holy and acceptable – a reasonable service. Romans 12:1-2.

Consider what I say, 2 Timothy 2:7 and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

TESTIMONY CORNER TESTIMONY OF PAM GOODWIN BY PAM GOODWIN.

For those of us in the Body of Christ, Sr. Pam Goodwin is a home name and it should not be difficult to understand why  I am sharing her testimony. I am trusting God that everyone else who may not be knowing her can appreciate God’s working with His people. Read on…

I am nobody special but because of Him I am a child of God.
I was basically raised on a farm in northwest Arkansas in a little town called Lowell with a population of 168. My first recollection of church was when we lived in Joplin, Missouri, for one year and attended Gospel Assembly Church with Bro. Edgar Roach as the pastor. I remember sleeping on the pews and waking up hearing the saints shouting and worshipping. We moved back to Arkansas and attended a small Community Church in Lowell. My father did not serve God. When I was about 6, there was a Vacation Bible School and I felt a conviction and raised my hand and accepted Jesus as my Savior with the faith of a child.
When I was around 10, Bro. Ralph Angelo Sr., from Tulsa began coming to Rogers and having services on Thursday night, Sunday and Sunday night. On Sunday nights, student ministers and their wives would drive over and conduct services – Bro. & Sis. Ralph Angelo, Jr., Bro. & Sis. Zumwalt, Bro. & Sis. Robert Goff, Bro. & Sis. Danny Goff, Bro. & Sis. Walls, Bro. & Sis. J.D. Wyzard, Bro. & Sis. Carl Begley and others.
When I was 12, we were at an annual convention in Houston which I will never forget. Bro. James Sowders was up preaching on repentance and salvation. I was hearing every word and felt such strong conviction that I felt like I couldn’t breathe. When the altar call was given, I began to cry. I didn’t receive the Holy Ghost but definitely had a born again conversion. I felt so clean inside – I didn’t want to do anything to hurt what I felt inside.
The church in Rogers closed so when we could, we went to Tulsa for weekends. The biggest change came in my life when I was 16. Bro. Angelo invited me to go to the Paducah youth meeting in June 10 – 1967. It ended up my cousins, Dennis Kincy and Fred Weber, also went.

At that youth meeting Bro. Lloyd Goodwin got up and preached on holiness and I loved the message. On the last day we sang “You’re All I Need, Lord” and the Spirit started moving in. I went down front and began seeking the Holy Ghost. Sis. June came from the platform and began praying with me, even though she had no idea who I was or what my name was. I didn’t know her either. But that day, Dennis, Fred and I all received the Holy Ghost.

That same summer, Bro. Angelo took the youth on a 10 day trip visiting churches from Tulsa to Norfolk, VA. I was blessed to go (along with Dennis and Fred) and we visited churches in Memphis, Russellville, Ashland, Kingsport, (church was in the basement while they were building the sanctuary), Charlotte, and Norfolk.
Since we didn’t have a church, I didn’t want my Holy Ghost to die so I would kneel by my bed and pray until I spoke in tongues. I wanted a church so bad.
We received tapes from Des Moines because of a friend who received them. In 1968 at the Houston meeting Bro. Goodwin and Sis. June introduced me to three sisters from Des Moines who were with them at the meeting – Carol Abshire, Marsha Stark, and Bonnie Thomas. I sat with them during the meeting. They started corresponding with me and invited me to Des Moines during Christmas break. God put it in my heart to do it. I felt like I was home in Des Moines. I left feeling it was God’s will to move to Des Moines.
I felt I had three choices: Tulsa (close to home), Houston (I had a scholarship and could attend college and live with my relatives) or Des Moines (no school, no family). There were decisions to be made and I wanted to be in God’s will. I prayed and fasted a lot – sometimes three days at a time. By summer I knew God wanted me to move to Des Moines. I was working and saving money and in October, 1969, moved to Des Moines.
I was blessed to spend almost a year in the little white church. That first year I really learned to grow on my knees, but through it all God held me.
Around September 1974, I started noticing Bro. Glenn Goodwin. We were married in November, 1976. God blessed us with three children – Joshua, Adina and Daniel. After the children came I was a stay-at- home mom. I also did home typing four or five hours a day. Before Daniel was a year old, my husband entered law school. This was a difficult time for me. He was working and going to school so he could not give much time to the family. We had three small children under the age of five. But God helped us through.
I worked in the church office starting in 1980 and became nursery supervisor in 1987 for five years. During my years in the church I have worked in every department. I have felt so blessed and happy to work for God. I was never one to be very active in services; I worshipped but seldom testified.
A few months before Bro. Lloyd Goodwin died, I felt something stirring within me to pray and do more. When he passed away, it was devastating. But something down inside said “God is in control.it’s going to be be all right.” My prayer life became more important. I had several experiences and dreams during the next year and I wanted to work harder than ever in the church doing anything I could to help.
In November, 1997, Bro. Vernon Goodwin, the pastor, passed away and my husband, Bro. Glenn Goodwin, became the pastor. Becoming a pastor’s wife without warning was quite a change! I couldn’t be like any previous pastor’s wives, I had to be myself. God impressed upon me to just love the people and care for them. I would wake up in the night with a Scripture or song in my heart. God is truly our help.
I have made a lot of mistakes but God has helped me so much. He healed me of motion sickness and migraines so I am able to travel with my husband. When there was a need for an organist, He helped me go to Drake University and learn to play the organ. So many times He has given me thoughts and words that I knew I didn’t have.
Last year I had to have a heart valve replacement and had open heart surgery. I had no fear or worry; I knew God was in control and it would be all right. The recovery is not easy but God carried me through. I give God all the praise and thanks – It’s a good life the Lord has given me!
You won’t have experiences with the Lord every day and there are times you will go through desert places when you aren’t feeling His presence, but He is still there. It is important to be faithful – God is a faithful God.
Who would have thought 47 years ago when I moved to Des Moines I would be the pastor’s wife? So what you are today may change and you don’t know what your future is in God but if you keep serving Him, whatever it is, it will be wonderful.
“He hath shown thee, O man, what is good. And what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8

Touching Jesus is all that matters!

It’s important to touch the Lord in all services

Soroti Gospel Assembly International

In the Soroti Assembly, when you think of someone who consistently touches Jesus during services, I doubt that I am the first person to come to mind. I am probably not even the tenth person to come to mind. So maybe I am not the best person qualified to write on the importance of touching Jesus in the Spirit. Even the Apostle Paul, while writing an epistle and giving direction as an Apostle stated that he was the “chiefest of sinners.” Even so, I still know how vital and important it is for a Spirit-filled child of God to feel the Spirit of the Savior on a consistent basis.

Touching Jesus is important personally, as a local church, and as a fellowship. There is an old saying in our fellowship that states, “The greatest thing you can ever do is worship God. The second greatest thing you can ever do…

When a man’s heart is subdued by the word of God, he understands.

What subdues a child at home is not a stick but the word of God. Use this law.

Deuteronomy 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

-There’s no such a thing as a father being saved in a home that does not lead his family in prayer.

-There’s no such a thing as a father that does not establish a godly order to lead his family godward.

-You teach a child to follow God by following God yourself.

-If holiness is not in the heart of the parents it will not be in that home.

– Being a mum who does not do the right things, the daughter is learning

– Character is built by discipline without it you cannot build character. If u have holiness in your heart it’ll influence your purchases, passages, associates every area of ur life, whatsoever u wouldd have done you, do it also to others.

– Understanding means behaving soberly and having the right estimate of God’s work to where you understand what the parameters of life are. Understanding others, and the implications of ur decision based on the knowledge of the word of God that you know.

– knowing enough of one another to avoid clash of interest.

– We are meant to know much about God so we don’t clash with his interest. And because we don’t have enough we end up clashing with one another.

– Knowing you are in responsibility in the house of God you must know your expectations that are required of you by the Man of God , God, And Saints

– You should analyse your life, protecting the feelings of others

– Under utilising what you know is a disappointment to the Lord.

– Psalm 103:1-

– v2 don’t forget God’s benefits toward you.

-2Samuel 18:5  And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom. Cf verse 13

-We can sit in the church and cause people to think we love God yet we don’t pay our tithe.

– Isaiah 1:21

Israel lost a lot in trying to use Subterfuge

To use trucks, deception they were looking stricken when they were actually doing well. They felt that if they paid tithe they’d be discovered rich so they decided to put in little.

Proverbs 28:20

If we are not faithful with what God gives us then we shall be victims of this.

To be honest is a way to happiness. If your faithful people will be kind to you. Praying for you. Because being faithful is like utilising rightly what God giveth you.

Israel was filled with lies tricks to make the work of God beg

There is what God expects of us when building the work of God through faithfulness nothing is lost.

» What builds the work of God is faithfulness. Supporting the work of God with meekness knowing that the work of God needs your support.

When faithfulness which is responsible for building is lost then what we have built in unfaithfulness is going to be lost.

Unfaithful people are undetectable and you shall lose prominence.

To have credibility, blessings  be faithful. Because nothing is done less of an appointed means, we are the appointed means for God to build His work. God is calling His church to be sincere with what God gives it.

Faithfulness is the opposite of a vain spirit that defends self at all costs even including cheating God, this means making God work positively with your needs in your sins. Wanting God to be faithful irrespective of your sins

Signs of Spiritual Deterioration

Salvation is a life to be led as a Christian and once you are in the field one should have spiritual feelers alert to be able to detect whether you have deteriorated spiritually and some of the signs of spiritual deterioration are:-

* When you acquire money and goods as your number one than God

then you know you are deteriorating spiritually see

ACTS 8:20

l.

* You can also detect that you are deteriorating spiritually when you are having a bitter spirit, anger towards other people, Hebrews 12:15

* Watching and listening to worldly music, reading newspapers that are morally degrading i.e. Redpepper.

When your prayer life ceases and your love for reading the Bible falls on the rock. 1st Thessalonians 5: 17 Pray without ceasing.

* When your love for others grows cold John 15:12-13

* When you love sports and parties is one sign that you have deteriorated spiritually. Sports develops

pride in an individual and they look at others as inferior and they super for we know what Solomon said about the proud, they are headed for destruction Proverbs 16:18

* When you adapt worldly lifestyle for example, when you make more friends of the world (the non-saved) than the blood bought children of God.

2nd Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

* Giving excuses for not being able to do a spiritual duty assigned you is one of the yardsticks to measure your spiritual deterioration. Luke 14: 18 And

they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

* When your church attendance drops like we have four services in the week and you attend only one service…you can mark yourself. Hebrews 10: 25 Not

forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as

the manner of some is; but exhorting one another : and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

* When you take long or never testify at all, just be sure you are headed for the exit, we all know that

the scriptures say we have power when we testify…

Revelation 12: 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;

* When you stop seeing eye to eye with your Pastor

just know you are about to make a good contact with the world…Hebrews 13: 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. 17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

The instructions we get are to give us a right frame of mind and you cannot enjoy this life when you are at war with others and mishandling issues of life

Worldliness.

This is a word that originates from the word World. It refers to things in this world; it can also refer to the time in which we live in this age of the world.
The scriptures use the term world to describe the environment, or the spirit of evil and enmity towards God and the things of God.
The world was not originally evil, but the whole world after the fall of man in the garden has come under the sway or influence of the wicked one; Satan, and the demons. 1st John 5:19 and we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
As we live therefore we need to know the world is moving fast to evil.
Worldliness is the idolatrous worship of things one lusts after which are of this world – your business, husband, children can become idols
To where an individual will say, you’ll have to kill me first before you touch my business.
The Bible in the book of Colossians 3:5-6 instructs us to mortify the deeds of the flesh. Colossians 3 :5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Things of this world cannot be classified inherently wrong – they were not so from the beginning. But gradually through misuse of What God had created with intention for good, it has turned out to be evil. Everything not used well in accordance to God’s law produces evil results. Or when they are exalted to a level designated for God alone, this is the reason the world stands as a picture of corruption.
2nd Peter 1:4 whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
James in his epistle calls worldly person an adulterous and warns that alignment to the world is enmity with God. James 4:4 ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James said a friend of the world is at war with God.
John the apostle also discouraged love for the world he said,
1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Loving the world takes away God’s love from your heart.
There is something about the love of God, it takes away all the desire to do Evil. It will deaden the love for the things of this world. If you in your heart heap the love for this world, then you will not have the love of God. Loving this world too much, you pass away with it, verse 17 and the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but loving God “but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.”

It’s hard to overcome lust as an individual, because lust only dies when you die.  Lust was brought to birth the day Adam fell in the garden and so death passed on to all men, [Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.]
This is not necessarily the physical death, man suffered a fatal death after the fall, what doctors would call multiple system failure.  Man’s sensibilities and the will were seared to where he cannot choose rightly, he gravitated more to evil than to good and man developed covetousness or simply call it lust – a strong desire for what you don’t need. However to keep that lust (that can only be destroyed at death) under check man needs the power higher and far greater than his own.
Therefore it takes a more devotion, more dedication, and more commitment to the Lord, less of that one will always compromise. So when you have received Christ and are born of God, then you are none of the world’s. This is so because the driving force behind your motives, actions, desires and way of life is God, absolutely God will take charge of that mortal body and steer it through times of tough struggles with the flesh to where you emerge victorious.
Colossians 2:
“20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world…” we shall not again be subject to ordinances
1 John 5:4-5
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
(KJV) as long as we have God we shall overcome worldliness.
But this takes our responsibility to deny worldliness, Paul was encouraging Titus that it was possible to live above the influence of the world and that we could live righteously before God in this world. Titus 2:11-12
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; (KJV)
However it’s not easy because there is a pull on us to gravitate towards worldly things usually from within (as a result of the Fallen nature) and from peers and friends. Matthew one of the original twelve apostles recorded Jesus’ warning to those who want to gain the whole world in exchange for their souls
Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (KJV)
Mankind was referred to as the world see John 3:16 for God so loved the world (Mankind)
And the world that did or does not fear God it fell or falls under these three categories;-
Those that did not know God,
Those that rejected Christ,
Those that did not believe on Him.
Look at the book of John 1:10.
Therefore our love should be reserved for God, the things of God. Love to pray, love to read the Bible and his word, love to witness, to fast.
Don’t be taken up by the world to where you follow on the latest trends, putting on the latest ‘stuff’
The heart of man is too narrow and small to contain or hold both the love for the Lord and the love for the world. Therefore set your priorities right, Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth… Is it love for God or for this world.
The things of this world are distinguished into three

The lust of the flesh. This can be explained as preoccupation with gratifying physical desires whether sexual or material. This lust can also be referred to as luxury.
The lust of the eyes. This is the desire for materialism, craving for and accumulating things. This is also covetousness. The Bible warns against this so much. Luke 12:15 and beware of covetousness:
The pride of life. This is obsession with one’s status or importance. If we can be able to live our lives unspotted by any or all of those then we have managed the world. And so as you live, remember Man’s greatest enemies are three, The Flesh, the devil and the WORLD.
